How to join an IFC fraternity

Incoming students typically join during Spring/Summer recruitment (April-August) before Freshman year. Our fraternities recruit year-round using both Informal Recruitment and IFC Summer Recruitment Weeks. On average, half of the fraternities will continue to recruit informally during the academic year.

Informal Recruitment:

This is an independent unstructured process you navigate at your own pace. To express interest in joining a fraternity, you can sign up on the interest form linked below, and fraternity recruitment chairs will contact you.

You can also browse the fraternity profiles on our website and contact recruitment chairs directly. Through informal recruitment you can attend recruitment events as you please, building relationships with each fraternity. These events may include house tours, barbecues, game nights, and athletic activities.

Typically a fraternity will have you out 3 or 4 times to see if you’re a good fit with the brotherhood before extending a bid (invitation to join). Once you sign a bid, you have joined the fraternity and this will be the end of your rush process.

IFC SUMMER Recruitment Weeks:

This 5-day experience takes place twice each summer, allowing you to make a confident decision in one trip.

During Recruitment Week you will have the opportunity to meet every fraternity, tour the houses, attend a variety of fun events to meet members, and find the best fit.

Our 2023 summer IFC Recruitment Weeks last summer took place July 20-24 and August 10-14. Dates for 2024 recruitment weeks will be announced soon!
